I am currently an instructor at SUNY Erie and SUNY University at Buffalo. My teaching bridges foundational drawing with motion graphics, animation, and innovative digital practices. Students learn to observe closely, design intentionally, and experiment across time-based and screen-based media while building core skills in composition and form. I prioritize an inclusive space where curiosity, creative risk-taking, and emerging technologies shape how students find their visual language.
ANIMATION STUDENT REEL
Students in Art 220 Time Based Concepts and Art 303 Intro to Digital Art were tasked with creating their first animation in Blender 3D. They used LIDAR scanning on their mobile phones to create self-portraits and animations based on three places that hold significance for them.
CREATIVE CODE INTERACTIVE PORTRAITS
Students are tasked with creating a creative code portrait in P5.js (processing) from scratch. Throughout the course, I provide lectures on artists and designers who incorporate code into their work. Additionally, I conduct technical demonstrations to guide students in completing the project.
DIGITAL COLLAGE and AMBIGRAMS
In the digital collage project, students are challenged to creatively utilize only five photos. One of these photos must be sourced from a stranger, requiring students to skillfully integrate this image into their project while adhering to someone else’s perspective and style.
In the Ambigram project, students are tasked with designing an ambigram from scratch. This means they must craft a word or phrase that reads the same when viewed from different orientations. Following this, they will create a movie poster featuring this ambigram as the title, showcasing their design skills in both typography and graphic design.
